A family-owned business, our story began over 100 years ago when 18-year-old JC Hall started our company with nothing but two shoeboxes full of picture postcards and an unwavering, entrepreneurial spirit.
His passion lives on today in everything we do, and just like the young JC Hall we never forget that we’re here to help people connect, enhance special moments in their lives and put a stamp on the world.
Our Australian History
Hallmark first arrived in Australia in 1955, licensed to 'The Specialty Press' based in Little Collins Street, Melbourne. The original team consisted of only five people with a range of eight Everyday cards and sixteen Christmas designs.
By 1960 Hallmark was being distributed through major retailers and in 1979 the company became a subsidiary of Hallmark Cards Incorporated, Kansas City, USA and the name was changed to Hallmark Cards Australia Limited.
Today, the Hallmark Cards Australia head office and distribution centre is based at 10 Caribbean Drive in Scoresby, where thousands of cards are distributed to hundreds national and independent retailers to help Australians live caring, connected lives full of meaningful moments.
