Valentine's Day is a great excuse to bring the whole family into your love celebration!
Read-on for a few fun tips on bringing to life the perfect Valentines Day at home…
GET CRAFTY
Show how you feel and get into some valentine craft
Spread the love by writing Valentine cards for everyone in your family.
Make
some envelope art – taking inspiration from your card or go with your
heart. Use pencils, paints, stamps, stickers and or whatever you have laying around.
Make boxes out of recycled cards – perfect size for that special gift. All it takes is a couple of snips and tucks – download the instructions (you’ll never throw away a card again!).
FEED THE HEART & SOUL
Add a special valentine touch at breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Have a heart-y breakfast – cut out toast hearts, make
pancakes or waffles in heart shapes or use small heart shaped cookie
cutters on fruit salad – and what says I love you more than breakfast in
bed!
Champagne breakfast – gets the day off to a popping start.
Pack
a picnic – take your picnic basket and rug to the back yard or head down to the local park. The kids
can run around and you can sit back and relax – knowing you don’t have
to drive home.
Dine at home in style – set the table with your
‘just-for-guests’ fine china and silverware, make a table centrepiece
from flowers from the garden and put on your Sunday best.
Add a little zest with after dinner treats for adults only (after the kids are in bed of course).
Upcycle cards and make cute little gift boxes
SWEETS FOR YOUR SWEET
Sweets treats will get you on their good side.
Make and decorate lovely biscuits – it’s fun to do and they
taste great too! Our friends at Hallmark Think.Make.Share have got you
covered with Cookie Decorating 101.
Whether
it’s a cake, brownies, fudge or a decadent self-saucing pudding or
gateau - nothing says I love you better than chocolate.
Just
like you and your family, the culinary perfect match – strawberries and
cream. Dip strawberries in chocolate for an added treat.
And don’t forget your pets - make yummy dog biscuits and cat treats.
TOGETHERNESS
Romantic activities for the whole family
Have a movie night with a family favourite flick or rom-com – set it up outside under the stars and don’t forget the popcorn!
Write
love letters for everyone in the family! Get everyone to write one
reason they love each person and read them out together. (For more fun, keep
it anonymous and try and guess who they’re from).
GIFTING
At the end of the day – we all love a gift
Make gifts with the kids – they’re the things we keep forever for sentimental reasons (even when they don’t go with the décor).
Devise a fun scavenger hunt - make up some tricky riddles and send them all over the house – we’ve got ideas and template for the clues.
